I am a Professor in Software Engineering at the Mærsk Mc-Kinney Møller Institute at University of Southern Denmark, Vice-Head of Research for the two units SDU Software Engineering and Centre for Industrial Software and Head of the software education at SDU. Beyond SDU I am active in Digital Research Centre Denmark (DIREC) and the Danish Data Science Academy.
My research focuses on software engineering and data-science with applications in ubiquitous computing and cyber-physical systems. I have contributed with new methods for human sensing and data analytics and methods for the optimization of software qualities including performance, usability, integration, energy efficiency and privacy protection. This has among others led to important contributions for data science methods within robotics, logistics and activity recognition. My research has been published at premier venues such as ACM MobiSys, ACM Ubicomp, ACM TOSN and IEEE RAL. The results have enabled open-source projects and industrial strength research prototypes that have been commercialized.
